Success Strategies for Ohio Achievement Assessments
A professional development workshop that helps solve the issues Ohio educators face associated with student test success
Success Strategies for Ohio Achievement Assessments is an informative 3½-hour professional development workshop focusing on issues facing Ohio educators from Grades 3–12 relating to student test success. An overview of the current Ohio accountability system for schools will be given, including Value Added, Scientifically-based Methodology, and Response to Intervention.
Success Strategies for Ohio Achievement Assessments is your opportunity to:
- learn assessment-preparation techniques and tools to use in your classroom;
- interact with colleagues in a productive, motivating learning environment; and
- expand your knowledge and explore new approaches to enhance your student’s test preparation.
This workshop reviews how students learn and offers tools to prepare students for the Ohio Achievement Assessments (OAA) and the Ohio Graduation Tests (OGT). Educators will be introduced to techniques to stimulate your students to reduce test anxiety as well as utilize their test-taking strategies. The process of teaching students how to develop critical-thinking skills for tests will be covered. Scientifically-based methodology, including the use of graphic organizers, question answering and question generating, and multiple strategy instruction will be reviewed. Participants will have the opportunity to develop new knowledge and skills that will help them more effectively address Ohio's Academic Content Standards as it relates to the OAA and OGT.
This workshop will introduce you to subject-specific strategies and suggested materials to prepare students for the OAA and OGT for Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. At the workshop, teachers will learn how to incorporate these strategies into their classroom lesson plans.
Time will be allocated for discussion and interaction amoung the participants and the instructor.
